Pricing questions
How much does carpet cleaning cost in Baltimore?
Chesapeake Carpet Care charges $95 to $115 per standard room (200 to 250 square feet). Our three-room package runs $279 to $315. Oversized rooms are billed at our per-square-foot rate rather than the flat room price. Our minimum job is $225. Every price includes pre-spray, truck-mounted hot-water extraction, post-groom, and stain blocker. No surprise add-ons at the door. We price 18 to 22 percent above franchise carpet cleaners because you get 46 years of expertise, the owner on every job, and chemistry that is genuinely safer for your family.
How much do area rug cleaning, upholstery, and tile cost?
Area rug cleaning runs $2.50 to $3.50 per square foot depending on fiber type. Wool and fine rugs sit at the higher end because the chemistry and handling time are more involved. Upholstery: couches $180 to $220, loveseats $150 to $180, chairs $120 to $150. Tile and grout cleaning is $1.10 to $1.35 per square foot, with an optional grout sealing add-on at $0.50 per square foot. All prices are ranges because every job varies by soil level, size, and material. We give you a specific number before we start, not after.
Do you offer eco-friendly cleaning, and does it cost more?
Eco-friendly chemistry is our standard, not an upgrade. Every job uses biodegradable, pet-safe, kid-safe products. The tagline on our business cards since 1980 is "Tough on Dirt, Easy on the Environment." We also offer a Green Clean tier that uses our most rigorous plant-based product line. A medical office we clean for noticed the difference in our chemistry sheets and specifically asked us to always use the green line for their space. We can bring that same standard to any home. Green Clean is available at a modest range markup. Ask when you book and we will tell you exactly what to expect.
Timing questions
How long does a carpet cleaning job take?
A standard three-room job takes 90 minutes to 2 hours on-site. A whole-house job with 5 or 6 rooms takes 3 to 4 hours. Tile and grout cleaning for a bathroom or kitchen runs 60 to 90 minutes. Upholstery varies by piece size: a couch with cushions is typically 45 to 60 minutes. Dry time after carpet cleaning is 4 to 6 hours for light traffic, up to 24 hours if you want carpets fully restored to their original texture before moving furniture back.
How soon can I walk on carpets after cleaning?
Light sock-foot traffic is fine within 2 to 4 hours. We recommend 6 to 8 hours before replacing heavy furniture or returning to normal foot traffic. Full fiber recovery takes about 24 hours. On the day of your cleaning, we time appointments so your carpets are usable before your next obligation, whether that is school pickup, a work-from-home call, or simply getting to bed on time.
How often should I clean my carpets?
Most households benefit from professional cleaning every 12 to 18 months. Homes with pets or children benefit from every 6 to 12 months. Allergy or asthma households often prefer every 6 months to reduce dust mite and allergen load. Lightly used guest rooms or basements with minimal traffic can go 2 to 3 years. Carpet warranties from most manufacturers require professional cleaning every 12 to 18 months to stay valid. We are a valid professional cleaning provider for warranty purposes. Service and operations questions
Do you subcontract, or is it always the owner?
Every job is Jesse. He is the second-generation owner and the only person who performs cleaning for Chesapeake Carpet Care. No subcontractors, no rotating crew, no franchise model. This is the core of how we protect quality and our family reputation. When you book, Jesse is the person who shows up, does the work, and answers your questions. His parents started this business in 1980 and that level of personal accountability has never changed.
Do you clean wool, Persian, or Oriental rugs?
Yes. Wool, Persian, Oriental, Navajo, and silk-overlay rugs require different chemistry and handling than synthetic wall-to-wall carpet. We offer on-site cleaning for rugs that can stay in place, and pickup-and-delivery for pieces that need controlled cleaning off-site. Specialty rugs bill at the higher end of our $2.50 to $3.50 per square foot range. If you have a high-value or antique piece, tell us the details when you call and we will confirm before scheduling. For a deeper comparison of rug types, see our page on wool rug cleaning vs synthetic.
What add-on services do you offer?
Beyond the four core service lines, we offer deodorizer treatment and a liquid pet-urine protectant. The protectant forms a topical barrier that prevents pet accidents from fully absorbing into carpet fibers, making future cleanup significantly easier. If you have a dog or cat, it is worth adding. Both add-ons are available on any carpet cleaning job. Ask when you schedule and we will price them for your specific rooms.
Do I need to move furniture before you arrive?
Moving large pieces before we arrive, like sofas, dressers, and beds, helps us cover the full carpet area. We move and replace smaller items, like chairs, ottomans, and end tables, as part of the job. If heavy furniture cannot be moved, we clean around it and under the exposed edges as best we can. Let us know your situation when you book and we will give you a specific preparation checklist for your home layout.
